Smartboards are a waste of money. I missed the poll. I was very interested in what you said. Right on.

I think one way that we may see this shake out is that there will be some sites that are mainly concerned with gathering knowledge (wikipedia) and others that are more focused on wisdom or interpretation of knowledge. I'm not sure, but we may see Knowl filling that gap.

I am not sure if the point of Google Knol will be to keep up with the breadth of knowledge of Wikipedia. Researched material [or fact checked] material always takes longer than posting to a wiki that has no filters on it, or very few [Wikipedia]. That is not to say that Wikipedia is not a valuable resource. It certainly is and fills the need of instantaneous information that is 95% of the time up to the minute. The void that Knol fills is the ability for a researcher to judge the author bias. When you know who is writing something, you can also begin to determine from what perspective they are coming. From an academic perspective, knowing the expertise of an author, and also determining their bias is very important to good research.

I think that there is plenty of room for both content sources. I would hope that Knol can differentiate itself from Wikipedia and perhaps overcome the stigma that is present in the classroom when Wikipedia is invoked.
